A tear-down of the new Anker PowerCore Fusion PD

Anker has taken a bold step with their latest charger by providing something that offers the power of GaNFast charging, together with a power bank that you can take with you.

The obvious advantage of this approach is that you’re only carrying one device around, in this case, a charger that is only slightly larger than the one supplied by Apple, but also, when it’s plugged in, your power bank is constantly being replenished.

ChargerLab has done a tear-down of the new device, now available on the Apple Store, and here are the highlights.

Anker PowerCore Fusion

They used the UK plug version of the charger, which comes with PD and Anker’s own IQ charging, both of which will charge your Mac or any other smart device much faster due to the GaNFast chips inside.

Packaging

While not quite up to Apple’s standards, the packaging is extremely neat and compact, showing off the device’s LED charge indicators.

Here the new charger is compared with the Apple 60w as provided with the Mac. As you can see, in a very slightly larger form factor, you’re getting a lot more power and a power bank that you can take with you.

Performance

ChargerLab showed that both ports can be used at the same time, so you can charge two devices.

Inside

Something ChargerLab don’t do is look inside, but when we open the charger up, we find…

…the Navitas NV6115 and NV6117.

Conclusion

ChargeLab’s conclusion was:

In charger mode, the USB-C port can provide maximum 30W of power with PowerDelivery in charger mode, and 5V/3A 15W max in power bank mode. In charger mode, the ANKER PowerCore Fusion Power Delivery supports 19V charging which is ideal for laptops. While in power bank mode, the USB-C port remains charging in high voltage PD standard.

Overall the ANKER PowerCore Fusion Power Delivery is one of the most powerful ones in ANKER’s charger family which combines versatility and style. A unique two-in-one solution for people who are always on-the-go.
